We are developing the Cardiff to Newport sustainable transport corridor (Newport Road corridor) proposals. The corridor will be made up of:
the Eastern bus corridor,a cycling superhighway (Cycleway 2), andcontrolled parking zones.
The proposals aim to:
- connect Cardiff city centre to Newport and the business developments on Cypress Drive,
- encourage people to use sustainable travel instead of their cars as described in Cardiff Transport White Paper and by the South East Wales Transport Commission,
- improve bus infrastructure,
- provide a high-quality cycle route, and
- connect to other cycleways such as Cycleway 1 and Cycleway 6 (Roath Park Cycle Route).
