General waste

General waste

Waste that cannot be recycled goes in your general waste.

Collected every 2 weeks.

Properties using bins

If you have moved into a new property and need a new bin, or if you need to replace a lost or stolen bin, please contact Connect to Cardiff (C2C) on 029 2087 2087.

Bins cost £25 each.

If you cannot fit all of your general waste into your bin, you may be able to get an extra or larger bin.

You will only be able to get this if you regularly have additional general waste, and this is out of your control. For example, medical waste. You will also need to prove that you make full use of weekly recycling and food waste collections.

If you think you meet the criteria, please contact us to arrange an assessment.

You can use any type of bag to put the waste in your bin. You must close the lid properly.

If you put extra general waste bags out next to your bin for collection, we will not collect them, and you could get a fine.

Properties using seagull proof sacks

Your property should have 2 seagull proof sacks.

You should:

  • Place all your general waste in a good quality rubbish bag.
  • Put the rubbish bag inside a sack
  • Make sure the sacks are closed and secured with the Velcro strips.

You can put 2 rubbish bags inside each sack. The rubbish bags must be closed properly.

Please do not:

  • Use carrier bags.
  • Put loose rubbish directly into the sacks.

We will not collect any general waste bags that are not in the sacks.
