You can apply for a personal carer permit if you:
- care for a family member or friend who lives in a parking zone,
- are getting Carer's Allowance or Carer's Credit, and
- do not live with the person you care for.
The permit is digital and linked to your vehicle's registration, so you do not need to display it.

How to apply for a personal carer permit
Only carers can apply for a permit. The person that you care for cannot apply on your behalf.
When you apply, you will need to know which parking zone the person you care for lives in. You will also need to include your full name, address and proof:
- Of how the vehicle is linked to you, for example a V5C or insurance document.
- That you get Carer's Allowance or Carer's Credit.

How to use the permit
You will get a confirmation email once your permit application is approved.
You will then be able to park in the resident parking places in the parking zone named on the permit.

Personal carer permits are designed to allow convenient parking when providing care. They must not be used for:
- personal use,
- daily parking, or
- commuter parking.
Costs
Personal Carer Permits cost £10 and are valid for 12 months.
