We are working with Calibre to install parking zone B3 in the Riverside South area.
The work started in July 2025 and was expected to take 3 months to complete. Unfortunately, due to delays the work is not expected to be complete until the end of November 2025. Residents and businesses will receive a letter at the beginning of December explaining next steps.

Changes to the zone
We know people are finding it difficult to find suitable parking due to high demand in this area. Parking zones have helped to reduce these problems in other parts of the city.
We are changing the way parking in zone B3 is managed. To make sure that parking is prioritised for residents and those visiting the area, we are:
- Restricting all parking between 8am and 10pm, every day
- Expanding the zone to include more streets
- Changing all permit holder only parking to apply 24 hours a day, every day
- Changing all 2-hour limited waiting bays to pay and stay bays
- Allowing permit holders to park in pay and stay bays
- Including community premises in the permit scheme (such as places of public worship)
- Introducing new loading bays, car club bays and disabled bays
When the zone will operate
The parking zone will operate between 8am and 10pm every day. The restrictions will apply to:
- limited waiting bays,
- pay and stay bays, and
- single yellow lines.
Restrictions will also apply all day, every day to:
- permit holder only parking,
- double yellow lines, and
- blue badge bays.

Types of permits
We will issue permits to:
- residents, and
- community premises.
You can apply for 2 permits per property.
Residents will also be able to apply for permits for visitors.
Carers and contractors would also be able to apply for permits whilst working in the zone.
We will not issue permits to:
- businesses,
- properties on private roads,
- properties built, developed or converted after 1 September 2011,
- developments with off-street car parks (even if there is not enough parking for all the properties in the development), or
- student halls of residence.
Parking with a permit
Drivers with permits will be able to park in:
- permit holder only bays, and
- pay and stay bays without a ticket and for as long as needed.
Permit holders will be able to park in any eligible permit parking bay within the zone.
Parking without a permit
Drivers without permits will be able to park in limited waiting or pay and stay bays.
You can park for free in limited waiting bays. Depending on where you are in the zone, you can park for up to:
- 30 minutes, or
- 1 hour.
Please check the signs in the zone.
You can also park in pay and stay bays with a ticket. Depending on where you are in the zone, you can park for up to:
- 2 hours, or

Please check the signs in the zone.
These bays will be available throughout the zone for visitors and shoppers to use.
We encourage commuters to find alternative travel options.

Public consultation
We asked residents and the wider public to share their views on the proposed changes to the zone. The feedback we received was positive and has been used to form our plans.
