We want to work towards becoming a more inclusive and Neurodivergent Friendly Cardiff.
1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent. This means they can experience the world differently and have differences in:
- social understanding,
- sensory processing,
- communication, and
- information processing.
Neurodivergence is an umbrella term and includes, but not limited to:
- Autism,
- ADHD, and
- Tourette's Syndrome.
Neurodivergent Friendly Cardiff is a city-wide initiative that aims to create a more inclusive city. We have launched our first-ever Neurodivergent Friendly Cardiff Strategy. This is a five-year plan designed to make the city a place where neurodivergent people of all ages, and those that support them, are supported to live well and thrive.
The strategy will run from 2025 to 2030. It has been developed through extensive engagement with:
- neurodivergent people and their families,
- professionals, and
- community groups.
More than 800 people took part a consultation to help shape our strategy.
