Cardiff have introduced Interact Lighting's connected LED lighting system to help us become a smarter, greener city. By using this system the city will benefit from over 50% annual energy savings.
Over 14,000 streetlights are managed from a centralised Interact City lighting management system.
This means that we can have continuous monitoring and responsiveness throughout the city and better respond to citizen's needs.
This allows us to remotely adapt city lighting to time of night, year, or context.
For example:
- Turn up lighting if there is a traffic accident or crime.
- Dim to 30% at night when nobody is around.
- Use sensors on the light pole to detect activity to always keep you safe.
- Increased light levels at peak times outside of schools and hospitals to maximise safety and visibility
