Western Drive area permit parking scheme

We would like to hear what you think about our parking proposals for:

  • Western Drive,
  • Western Avenue North,
  • River View,
  • Llanmorlais Road,
  • Llandinam Crescent, and
  • Lydstep Crescent.

We are proposing to make these roads a permit parking area.

This means that anyone parking on these roads between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday will need a permit.

This will help to:

  • protect space for residents and their visitors,
  • prevent inconsiderate parking, and
  • encourage walking, cycling and use of public transport.

Residents will be able to apply for up to 2 permits for their vehicles, and a permit allowance for visitors.

Residents will not need permits to park on private driveways.

We may also introduce some new yellow lines to prevent obstructive or dangerous parking, such as near junctions or on corners.

Have your say

This consultation is closed.

We received 212 responses. Of those respondents:

  • 67% were in favour of the scheme,
  • 28% were not in favour of the scheme, and
  • 5% responded that they were unsure.

Following the feedback, we have decided to proceed with the scheme. We will now start the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) process.

You will be able to view detailed parking designs and formally object to the scheme if you want to.

The making of a TRO is a lengthy legal process and can take 6 to 9 months to complete.

Some residents of nearby roads raised concerns that parking may be displaced into their streets by this scheme. As a result, they requested that their roads were also included in the scheme. Unfortunately, we currently do not have the funding to be able to do this. We will seek funding for this in future, if and when it becomes available.
